I have sod in my front yard and it seems to be turning brown. What must I do turn it green again? |
Browning is not a good sign, however if the roots are still alive it can recover. New sod requires good soil preparation and good installation as well as good follow up care to become established and thrive. I would suggest you contact your retailer if your sod is not doing well. Since it is already installed, the best you can do at this point is be sure to keep it watered so that the soil stays evenly moist (not sopping wet but damp) while it becomes rooted. This can mean watering daily in hot weather. You may need to water, wait a few hours, then dig down and see how far the water went -- the soil below the sod needs to be damp or the roots will not grow into it. Good luck with your sod! |
