Why didn't my chestnut tree bloom alot? It had 3 blooms on it this year. |
The most common reason for lack of bloom would be that a new tree takes several years to become established; it should be planted in reasonably good to rich soil that stays evenly yet is well drained for best growth. Depening on what kind of chestnut you are growing, it may also need more or less sun to grow well. For example, Chinese chestnut (Castanea) prefers full sun all day, and horse chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum) does well in ample sun, but the related bottlebrush (Aesculus parviflora) does better in shade or gentle morning sun. |
