| This last winter I over wintered a James Walker Bougainvillia in my garage. When I put it out in April after the nights warmed up, it was left out during a period of heavy rain, about 2 weeks worth. The branches died, but the main stems are a light green as I cut away dead wood. Can this plant recover? There is no new growth on the main vines at this point? |
| Green tissue beneath the bark is a positive sign. It means the wood is live. As for how long it will take for you to see some new growth, it depends upon the strength of the root system and how warm the weather remains. Bougainvilleas love heat and their growth can be retarded when temperatures are cool. Place your James Walker in the warmest place you can find outdoors, where it can bathe in sunlight. It should perk up soon - at least I hope so! |
