I have some seeds that my mother gave me on Thanksgiving 1996. The seeds are in original packages, sealed inside ziploc bags, in the fridge. Are they still good? What will germination rate be? |
I'd bet that your seeds are still viable because you've kept them dry, cool, and in a dark location, all of the necessary elements to keep the little embryos happy. To check germination rate, place 10 seeds between damp paper towels and put them in a plastic bag on top of your refrigerator. Check every few days until they've sprouted. The number of germinating seeds will give you the approximate percent of germination you can expect from the lot of seeds. |
