The Q&A Archives: planting a bleeding heart

Question: I have just a leaf from a bleeding heart do i have to root it in water before planting it or will it grow if i planted it in the ground

Answer: Unfortunately I do not think you will be able to start this plant from just a leaf alone. Usually it is propagated by division, meaning you dig up and separate off a section of the roots. Sometimes it is propagated by seed as well. I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging.
