Climbing hydrangea is hardy to zone 4. It is slow growing and may take several years to bloom (5+ years is not uncommon). It requires full sun/partial shade with a moist, well drained, rich soil to thrive. Soil that is a bit acidic is ideal. Climbinghydrangea benefits from regular additions of organic material such as compost and a fertilizer such as a 5-10-10. It should not be grown on the sides of a wooden building as it can disrupt the boards. It can be grown successfully on a masonry wall or even up a tree without harm. |
