How extensive are the root systems for a Mimosa Tree? How far away from house or retaining walls is recommended. Will it up root a concrete foundation? |
Tree roots tend to stay in the top 18-24" of soil and extend out nearly twice as far as the dripline of the tree. Mimosa trees will grow 20'-25' tall and 20'-25' wide so planting closer than about 30' to a house isn't a good idea - your tree will need room for roots and for good air circulation all around to keep it healthy. |
