The Q&A Archives: Day Lillies and Lilly of the Nile

Question: My plants are doing fantastic but I have noticed that I am getting yellow leaves from my plants. Should I be worried or am I watering them too much?

Thank you.

Answer: Both daylilies and agapanthus produce new leaves all season long so it is not unusual for the oldest leaves (those on the perimeter of the plant) to yellow and die off. As long as your plants are producing new foliage in the center of the clump, it's okay for the leaves on the outside edge of the clump to turn yellow and die. Simply cut them off the plant to keep your plants looking neat and tidy.
