I have Lily of the Nile Blue Storm planted in full sun near the concrete decking surrounding a pool. The leaves are getting lighter in color each day... turning light green, then turning crisp brown at the ends. I water daily. The temp in Dallas is reaching 100's for several days in a row. How much should I water? Also... do I keep the blooms on or deadhead after blooming? Can I keep them blooming by fertilizing through the summer? Fertilizer recommendatins? I love these plants and want to keep them healthy year round. thank you! |
Dean, You can either leave the bloom stalks or cut them off at the base for a more tidy look. The plant symptoms seem to indicate a root problem. If internal soil drainage it not good they may be staying too soggy wet. Chlorine water may also be contributing to the tip burn as can excessive fertilizer applications. Feed them with a soluble product such as Miracle Gro following the label rate and timing. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
