| Steve, The best time to transplant that tree is in late fall through late winter. November and late January to early February are ideal. To start mimosa trees from seeds first soak the seed for 20 minutes in almost boiling water. Then remove the seeds and place on the surface of a well drained seed starting mix. Keep the mix moist by placing a sheet of clear saran type wrap over the surface or by placing the seed pots or tray in a large clear bag such as a dry cleaner's bag. Watch for germination and remove the clear plastic after the seeds start to emerge. It may take 3 or 4 weeks for germination to take place depending on temperatures.
