Boy did I mess up! I got really to close to my white dogwood tree. It's a small tree with three branches coming up from the base. Two about 1

The worst case scenario is that you'll lose the lower branches. The good new is - the rest of your tree should be okay. The best thing you can do is leave the damaged portions alone. The tree should callous over the injuries. Don't put any wound dressing or other foreign materials on the damaged areas; simply allow the tree to heal over the wounds. Check occasionally to make sure insects aren't entering and no mold or plant debris collects in the wounds. If the wounds don't heal over by next spring, or the branches do not leaf out next spring, prune them off. Best wishes with your dogwood!
