The Q&A Archives: Zucchini

Question: How do I know when Zucchini are ready to be picked from my garden?

Answer: Zucchini can be harvested at any size, but I've discovered that those from 5-7" long are the tastiest. If you allow zucchini to get much larger, they are not as tender or as flavorful as the smaller ones. I've seen zucchini that grew to the size of a watermelon! It wasn't a pretty sight! The more frequently you harvest squash, the more squash the plants will produce, so get out there and start harvesting - you'll get lots and lots more throughout the season. Enjoy!
