What can I use to prevent the infestation of worms on the tassel end of the ears of sweet corn? The ears are beautifully formed but on the end of most there was a small worm.

I think you may have a corn ear worm problem. Apart from nipping off the damaged end, you can try to prevent the pest from entering the corn by applying a bit of mineral oil to the tassel early on.
