The Q&A Archives: Need a good, tall, but narrow hedge

Question: I need a good screening hedge that can grow very tall (12-15 feet if possible) but very narrow (2-3 feet). It has full sun exposure. We can trim the hedge, but prfer minimal maintance if possible. Note that our development does not permit use Italian Cyprus or any type of Cyprus.
What can you recommend?
Thanks, Kent

Answer: American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis) is a tall, columnar evergreen that's a natural for planting in rows for quick screening. You might also consider Witchita Blue or Skyrocket junipers. These are reasonably fast growing, upright plants. Hope one of these suggestions works for you in your landscape!
