I had some really beautiful sunflowers growing but I noticed these half inch, tiny, string like worms in the center of the flower. All of the plants started dying. I don't want to put poison on them because of the pollinating bugs but what should I do?? Thanks for any advice that you might have.

Unfortunately, I can't identify the type of caterpillar by your description. However, you can use the botanical Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) against caterpillars without harming other beneficial insects. Look for Bt (sold under the name Dipel) in your favorite garden center. Apply according to label directions.
