| Unfortunately it is very difficult to overwinter a container grown shrub such as this. Although it is a very winter hardy plant, the roots are not well insulated when it is in a container. The best thing to do would be to plant it in the ground if you can. The next best would be to sink the container in the ground up to the rim in late fall, then mulch over the root area. Otherwise you could try bringing it into a cool location such as an unheated garage, or setting it in a sheltered spot out of the wind and heaping mulch over the container to try to insulate it. Whatever you do, make sure the soil does not dry out completely. Good luck with your juniper! |
