| We have a raywood ash tree that came in a 15 gal container that we planted in the yard approximately 4 years ago. The limbs are growing almost straight up, the tree shape is not round like others that I have seen. What do we do to get the tree shape to round out? |
| Raywood ash trees should be pruned when young to develop a strong central leader and good branch structure. Pruning back will force additional branching, which will help the canopy fill out. It's difficult to describe how to prune without actually seeing your tree, but you can safely remove one-third of the branch length without harming the tree.
