Benny,

There are many plants that can be used around a pool to create a tropical look. Some great options include dwarf Natal Plum, Chinese Hibiscus, Rose Mallow Hibiscus, Yellow Bells (Tecoma stans), Croton, Firecracker Plant, Bougainvillea, Bird of Paradise (Strelitzia), Yellow Bird of Paradise (Caesalpinia), various bananas and cannas, Plumbago, New Zealand Flax, and Cordyline.
