I divided a Blue Nile Lily (Ellamae Lily of the Nile- Agapanthus |
Dividing a Lily of the Nile isn't too complicated, so I wonder if you planted yours too deeply? Agapanthus prefers rich, well draining soils and need to be planted so the soil is just above the neck of the bulb. Generally 3-4 inches deep for the larger varieties and about 2 inches for the dwarf varieties. Planting too deeply can, at worst, cause death, and at best will keep the plants from flowering well. I'd dig around in the ground to see how the roots look. If they appear healthy you may be able to unearth the plant and replant. Best wishes with your garden! |
