It is either the effects of the drought (those trees have gotten larger each year and their demand increase accordingly), or perhaps damage from a weed killer such as might be in a weed and feed lawn fertilizer. There is nothing to fix the weed killer injury but time. The drought solution is of course obvious. When you water give a good soaking by sprinklers appling an inch in a rain gauge set on the ground.
