The Q&A Archives: Tropical Plants

Question: I would like to find out which Tropical plants grow in my area the best? Very HOT summers and cold winter in EL Dorado Hills. Landscaping backyard, and full sun between 1:00pm-5:00pm. Lots of Oaks for filter sun and shade.
Thanks, Art Garcia

Answer: In your gardening region you can grow Ensete or Musa (banana), palms, Abutilon (flowering maple), Fatsia japonica, Ginger Lily, Bird of Paradise, Calla, Caladium, and Melanthus (honey bush), to name a few.
