| I have two small sago palms located in a very sunny flower bed on the east side of my home. They have not shown any growth for more than two years. I want to transplant them to help promote some growth. What would the proper proceedures for transplanting my palms? |
| Robert, In November dig them up and slide a tarp beneath the roots and soil to make it easier to drag them to their new location without killing your back! Set them at the same depth they were growing before, firm the soil in to remove air pockets and water them in very well. Then keep the soil moist. In spring start fertilizing with light dose (about a cup) of turf fertilizer once every month through summer, or you can use a soluble fertilizer such as Miracle Gro or Peters at the weekly label rate.
