I have a low area that is near my carport that doesn't drain well. After large amounts of rain, water five or six inches deep stands in between my house and parking spot. I am trying to avoid running pipe 150' to the street. Do you have any suggestions.

Mark,

Your two basic options are to either install french drains beneath the surface to carry the soil moisture off to a lower area or to put some type of sump pump in the area attached to a pipe to carry the water off to another area (could be uphill since the pump is involved). Other than moving the water out you might consider turning the area into a bog garden using plants that tolerate or even thrive in such conditions.
