I recently planted three rose bushes in our garden in northern New Hampshire. I was told by local people to cover them for the winter. I put styrofoam buckets over them, and mulched them well. Will this be enough protection?

That should work, but make sure the roses can "breathe". Are there openings in the styrofoam buckets? If not, cut a few openings in the sides, enough to let a bit of air in.

There are other good, proven methods but it's a bit late for them. Ask again next year in October, or search the Q and A database for details. Smiling
