The Q&A Archives: Balcony Gardening

Question: Is it possible to grow peas in a container on a balcony?

Answer: Absolutely! All you need to supply is some kind of trellis for them to climb on, sunshine, and water. Peas will keep right on producing as long as you keep the pods picked and the roots well mulched and cool. You can use three thin bamboo poles anchored in the bottom of your container and tied together at the top to form a teepee for a homemade trellis. There are more compact varieties that may fit your balcon better than tall growing ones. Enjoy!
