I live in SouthEast Florida (sub-tropical) and am looking for a low maintenance perennial flower that gives that bright, tropical look. I have irrigation year round so the droughts won't be a problem. Any suggestions?

There are a number of options. I like cannas especially the bold colorful foliage of 'Tropicanna' canna or the stripes of 'Bengal Tiger' canna. Some other great choices are Agapanthus (Lily of the Nile), daylilies, abyssinian banana (Ensete), New Zealand Flax (Phormium), and Red Yucca (which doesn't die back but the top growth remains year round).
