The Q&A Archives: verbena dying back

Question: I live in zone7 where the purple verbena is a perennial. Will it die back during the winter or will it still be green and visible during this time? Thank you for your time! I love your website.

Answer: Raegan,

It will die back just a little but most of the above ground parts will remain overwinter and resprout new growth in spring. Actual winter conditions will determine the plants overall performance.

Thanks for the kind words and please stop in againg with a plant question anytime we can help!
