What would my zone be when shopping for plants? What in-ground annuals do well in full afternooon sun? Also what would do good in my area in hanging baskets and railing planter boxes in full afternoon sun? Also what tree would do good planted in a pot on a covered porch area?

Tricia,

We are building a database and can take questions one at a time, but feel free to submit questions as often as you like.

You are in cold hardiness zone 8b and heat zone 9. Some good annuals for sunny spots include:
Amaranth (Joseph's Coat)
Copper Plant
Cosmos
Gomphrena (bachelor button)
Melampodium
Moss Rose
Periwinkle
Portulaca
Purslane
Sunflower
Tithonia
Zinnia

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
