Can I plant bulbs in large containers and then once they are finished blooming plant perennials over them so I have something blooming during the summer? |
You absolutely can plant annuals and perennials in the same pot. In fact, since it's important to allow the foliage on the bulbs to wither down on their own (as opposed to clipping the leaves off), annuals or perennials in the same container will disguise the aging leaves and still provide some lovely color all growing season long. Then, in early spring when the bulbs come to life, they will take center stage until the perennials wake up or until you plant cool season annuals. Enjoy your colorful container! |
