This tree should not be losing its leaves in July, no, this is not normal. Since it is a new plant I would suggest you work with your retailer to determine what is happening in case there is a warranty involved. This tree is subject to transplant stress just as any other tree might be, it would also suffer from over or underwatering just as any othere plant might, but it is also potentially subject to a number of pests and diseases that could cause foliage problems. If it appears to be a pest or disease issue that requires a chemical control you might also consult with your local county extension as they will have the most up to date recommendations on what to use and how/when is best to use it. Good luck with your tree.
