Is this an annual or perennial? If perennial how do I maintain in the winter months? Cut down in fall or spring?

This plant Calluna vulgaris 'Aphrodite' is a perennial hardy to zone 5. It requires a soil that is acidic (soil pH below 6.0) and extremely well drained (or even sandy) or it will not overwinter successfully. For best results do not fertilize it and use only a thin layer of mulch as this can smother the roots or crown. In spring, trim back any winter damage. Enjoy your heather!
