Should a crape myrtle grow in area where we once had spruce shrubs? The area receives full sun.

There should be no problem with planting a crape myrtle where a spruce once was. The crape myrtle prefers rich, well draining soil so if necessary, dig and amend the planting bed prior to planting your crape myrtle. Water it deeply once each week after planting and it should perform well for you. Enjoy!
