| April, I am sorry for this delayed reply to your gardening question. We are transitioning to a new Q&A system and your question was unfortunately lost in the transition. I have discovered it now and hope this reply is not too late to be of help. Deep shade will mean less density for most any shrub, even one tolerant of the shade. I would suggest the following possibilities for your area: Camellia Aucuba Japanese Aralia (Fatsia japonica) and possibly Banana shrub (Michelia figo) if the shade is fairly bright.
