I just bought two Hibiscus plants. I do not know anything about them. Anything you can tell me will be helpful including where to plant it, how much space does it need, how tall it grows or should I plant it in pot? Thank you for your help |
Tropical hibiscus can grow from 8-15 feet high and 5 to 8 feet wide, depending upon variety and growing conditions. You can keep yours in a pot or you can plant them in the ground, spacing them at least 8 feet apart. Hibiscus can tolerate all day sunshine; they bloom best when they get full sun, but they are also adaptable to filtered afternoon shade in the hottest growing regions. Water your plants deeply once each week and mulch over the soil surface to help slow evaporation and moderate soil temperatures. You can lightly prune to stimulate healthy new growth in the spring and once or twice during the summer, and feed your plants lightly with a 5-10-5 fertilizer. Your plants should respond with lots of new green growth and plenty of flowers. |
