I would like to dig up an old bed of perennials such as lilies, irises, & others but I want to get rid of the weeds that are so bad in the bed.
Can one spray with a weed killer & wait a few days than replant the perennials?
Thank You

The waiting time depends upon the herbicide you use. Vegetation killers such as Round-Up degrade quickly in the presence of sunlight and fresh air; the product label will clearly state the waiting period after application so be sure to follow the directions on the label of the product you use. Best wishes with your new perennial bed!
