I FERTILIZED MY LAWN AND IN TWO DAYS I HAD A LOT OF BROWN PATCHES. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN AND HOW CAN I REMEDY THE PROBLEM?

It sounds like you may have fertilizer burn, which happens when plants are either overfertilized, fertilized when temperatures are too hot, which is stressful for plants, or fertilized and not watered sufficiently. At this point, make sure the lawn is well-watered, soil should be moist to a depth of about 6 inches.
