I am looking for a plant that will be evergreen in the shade. I have a large bed inbetween 2 trees that gets about 2 hours of morning sun on half of it. I have planted (these might not be the scientific names) mexican petunias around the bed, liriope in veregated shades next and in middle I wanted something bold, evergreen and somewhat tropical. Only 1/2 of the space gets any sun (2 hours from 8 - 10. I was interested in the cast iron plant, but am afraid it won't tolerate any sun. Any thoughts?

Staphanie,

Cast iron plant will be fine for that area. So will Japanese Aralia (Fatsia japonica) and Aucuba (Aucuba japonica).
