I live in New Jersey, and I bought a tropical houseplant. A yucca Elephantis is what the tag said. It lives outdoors during the spring, summer and part of fall; up to October/November. The leaves growing out from the main stem seems to have what looks like roots. are they replantable? If so, how? Thank You.

Yucca elephantipes is usually propagated by taking the babies or offsets that grow at the base of the trunk (or by seed). I do not think you would normally propagate it by leaf cuttings but you could experiment and see. Use a very well drained or sandy soil mix and water only sparingly. Good luck with your plant!
