| Hosta plants do, indeed, produce viable seeds. They're a specialty, though and difficult to find. You might want to purchase a plant at your local nursery and collect your own seeds from the pinkish-white flowers that form in late summer. You can sow the seeds indoors in moistened germinating medium. Barely cover the seeds, gently firming the soil around them to ensure good soil-to-seed contact. Place the flat in a warm place (like the top of your refrigerator), since the soil needs to be 70F for the seeds to germinate. They should sprout up in 15-20 days. Alternately, sow the seeds in moist, shady garden bed after all danger of frost has passed. Enjoy! |
