I am often told that pecan leaves poison the soil and cannot be composted, but I have used them in my garden for years with no apparent ill effects. Is there really any reason they should not be used? |
I think the caution has lost something in the translation! Walnut leaves are considered allelopathic and can cause stunting of some plants if the leaves (composted or fresh) are used in the garden. As far as I know, pecan leaves contain no such growth inhibitors, and can be safely used in the garden. |
