| Hydrangeas bloom on new shoots that develop on old wood. So, if the plant was heavily pruned, or if last winter's weather killed back the stems, the plant probably spent this year growing stems and leaves instead of producing flowers. Try cutting back the stems to about half their length to encourage new stem growth next spring (this will also help keep the plant looking neat and well-maintained). The hydrangea should bloom next year. |
