I purchased an Elephant Ear in the fall, then I put it out during the summer and within 24 hours all the leaves turned brown. I brought it back inside and all of those exposed leaves died. Now I have 4 new leaves. Will this always be a house plant?

You can grow Elephant Ears outdoors, but you'll want to plant it in a shady area, in moist soil. In such a site it will grow beautifully until the weather gets cold; it will then lose its leaves, but the tuber will remain alive until it sprouts new leaves the following spring. Enjoy!
