There are many different kinds of ground dwelling bees and wasps. They are usually quite calm and should be left alone, if at all possible, because they are valuable pollinators in nature. If they are nesting in a spot where you must walk or where children routinely play then you might need to control them. You can do this by dusting with carbaryl (Sevin) powder at night. You will need to locate all of the tunnel entrances and treat them all at the same time. If you are allergic to the stings please contact a professional pest control company for assistance.
