What does it mean that they are self-cleaning?

Is it best to plant in the spring or in the fall?

Plants referred to as self-cleaning are those that do not require deadheading. The flowers will drop off on their own when they are spent. Knock Out Roses fall into this category, so no regular deadheading is required. Roses are best planted during their dormant season, or very early in the spring, before new growth begins. Best wishes with your landscape!
