I have three dodonaea viscosa's (purple hopseed bushes) on my sideyard which is eastern exposure, morning to noon sun. I know this is not ideal since it calls for full sun. But my question is, do you think they will be able to survive in a healthy manner with these conditions?

Dodonaea will grow in full sun to part shade. The site you describe should be suitable, but growth will be slower and fall color not as intense as if they were growing in full sunshine.
