Can an alberta spruce that has grown to 7 to 8 feet tall be cut to shorten it, as well as it's width? I have four of them. |
Unfortunately the Alberta Spruce eventually grows quite large. In my experience cutting the top leader in an effort to control its overall size soon results in a deformed tree. Also, you can not prune it back hard because the bare older branches will remain bare. If you truly need something small you might want to replace it with a shrub that will naturally matue at the size you need or perhaps a plant that is more suited to constant pruning. I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging. |
