| I have many Tropical Palms of different species. My question is how do you keep the leaf tips from turning brown and eventualy dying? I had a Majesty Palm that was all green when I bought it and I made sure I kept the soil moist as required, I used miracle-grow potting mixture to transplant to a larger pot, and misted it frequently. Its leaf tips started to turn brown until they all died. I don't know what I did wrong. How do I keep the leaves from turning yellow than brown? Is it ok to mist the plants often,and if so how often? I just bought three more Palms, one of them a Sago Palm. I don't want these to turn out like the Majesty but already I can see one of them is. How do I maintain the it to keep it green? |
| I'm not sure why your palm died, but palms can die if the soil is too moist, which encourages root rot. The usual reasons for browning of the tips of palm leaves are dry air, underwatering, cold air, or excessive minerals in the water. Try misting the leaves daily to increase humidity around the plant, keeping the soil moist but not soggy wet, and keeping the plant out of drafts. You may want to use bottled rather than tap water if you know your water is very hard. Hope this information helps you keep your palms healthy. |
