It's a good time to plan your fall garden. It's a little early, but soon you'll see cool-loving plants at the garden center, especially pansies. Once they appear at the stores, you'll know it's time to plant! In the meantime, you can prepare soils by adding lots of organic matter such as compost. This will help soil retain the moisture needed by plants, as well as provide nutrients.
