I have a tree stump in my backyard that is an eyesore. It is a large stump with roots throughout the yard. Unfortunately I didn't have the stump ground up when the tree was removed. What can I do myself to either get rid of the stump entirely and make it look nicer?

Many gardeners consider this as an opportunity to get creative. You can plant a flowering vine on it, use it as a platform for a sculpture or flower pot or bird bath, or you can improvise it into being the support for a pedestal table or a lawn umbrella or one end of a hammock. I hope this gives you some ideas.
