The Q&A Archives: Amateur

Question: I just moved to the northeast and wanted to lay some grass in my sister's backyard, the lawn was not maintained at all, but i don't know where to start, what do i do?

Answer: Hester,

Starting a lawn or plugging in to fill in a thin lawn area is not difficult. Basically you want to rototill the soil a few inches deep and then lay sod, roll it to make good contact with the soil and water it in well. Then keep it moist with daily watering for about 10 days or so and gradually back off to every 5 days until cooler fall weather makes watering unnecessary.
